An interactive dance performance for kids, I Will Hug You tells the story of a family: mom, dad, older brother, and young sister. How do children best communicate and understand each other and the environment? Oh, while playing. In a fun family-like, visual, colorful performance, with the help of caring parents, the brother teaches the sister how to use her little hands: clap, play, draw and most importantly, hug. After all, hugging is an open and sincere gesture of acceptance that helps the little ones grow up, get confident, and boldly go forward.
Choreographer and dancer Dovilė Binkauskaitė composed the performance I Will Hug You based on Rudolf Steiner’s theory about different stages of child development. The focus of the performance is built around relationships between adults and children in the family. As the aforementioned educator stated in his work more than a hundred years ago, hand movements have a major influence on the development of a child’s language skills. Thus, both the plot and the choreographic composition, as well as the colors and scenography of the costumes, correspond to the drawing skills and worldview of children of all ages and are therefore easily recognized and understood by the little ones.
This performance is recommended for children 1-7 years.
