This dance performance is an ironic interpretation of a man’s diary that begs the question: What is the price of men’s competitive struggle and inner peace? While reflecting on masculinity in the body, choreographer Agnija Šeiko constructs the stage act as a dialogue between two male dancers on a stage who seem to undergo the battle between tradition and innovation, conservatism and liberalism, norm and freedom. In otherwise a rather physical performance, emphasis is placed on sensuality, with underlying notes of self-irony here and there, a rather rare occurrence in Lithuanian contemporary dance.
For this performance, Agnija Šeiko was awarded “Best Choreographer” of 2012 with the “Golden Cross of the Stage”, the highest Lithuanian award for theatrical achievement.
This production was performed at Contemporary Dance Duets Festival Diversia (Kostroma, Russia, 2012), Litauen tanzt contemporary (Berlin, Germany, 2013), and Festival Vides Deja (Latvia, 2016).
