Rhythm, pulsation, cocoons of light, architecture of body and nature – this is how the unique Lithuanian region, the Curonian Spit, and the fragility of its life are revealed in the film by French choreographer Mathilde Monfreux, video artist Trécy Afonso and dancers of Šeiko Dance Company. Here the synthesis of the dancing body and natural form turns their hidden connections into visible architectural shapes as if lifting the veil of Maya to reveal fragile interdependence between man and the world where each element undoubtedly affects the whole system. Subtle and organic approach of the French creators immerses the viewer in the poetic flow of nature and dance. This piece is another creation of the French-Lithuanian creative cooperation program KlaipėDAnse, which has been taking place since 2017.
Mathilde Monfreux

“Probably the most beautiful moment of the whole [New Baltic Dance] festival program is the fabric moved by the wind stretched throughout the frame constantly covering and revealing the sea with all its perspective. So excruciatingly beautiful and at the same time so unbearable, because it hides something almost most important and otherwise uncoverable – the horizon.”

“Under the Skin” has some kind of calming effect.”

“Under the skin” spreads pure poetics.”
